Species Specifics: The Greenwing Macaw (Ara Chloroptera) is one of the largest Macaws with only the Hyacinth and Buffons Macaws being larger. Greenwings can grow to a length of 35 in and the largest individuals can weigh as much as 1700 grams. Their natural habitat ranges across northern and central South America. As companions, Greenwings are very affectionate and playful. They do need very large cages with lots of toys and things to stimulate them. a bored Greenwing is a very unhappy Greenwing. Large Macaws can be very VERY loud so they are not suitable pets for apartment living.
